A note from Sharon Staley
As founder of The Parent Care Resource, I’ve created a unique process to help you develop your own customized life plan. Here, our Parent Care Specialists are experts in the physical, emotional, and financial issues related to aging with dignity. We’re trained in facilitating critical conversations among you and your family members and other loved ones.
In many ways, my passion for this work comes from my personal experience. When I was growing up, I was very close to my grandmother. She was widowed six years before her health deteriorated to the point that she could no longer live alone. Her long-term plan was to move from one of her children’s home to the next until she passed away. Fortunately, each of her children had the resources to make this possible, but it was an unsettling way for her to spend her final years. I often wonder if that was what my grandmother really wanted.
My husband never knew my father, except through stories I have told him and photos I have shared with him. My dad was a fascinating man who lived a great life and had wonderful philosophies. I know my husband would have loved to hear them from my dad. Even my youngest daughter was too little to remember the time she spent with her grandfather.
Today, so many of the people I work with are eager to avoid similar stories. They want to have a plan that guarantees they can live the way they’d like, and that ensures they leave a legacy of their own for their children and grandchildren.
I can’t think of anything I would rather do than help my clients create their vision for the future and the plan that makes that vision possible, then help them implement the plan when it’s time to put everything in place.
I’m a daughter, a wife, a mother, and a grandmother. My life experiences and those of the people closest to me have taught me that careful, thorough planning is critical to being able to live the way we want to live.
